Professional Events

SWB members have the honor of meeting with representatives by attending professional events. These events are held to help members grow professionally by networking with employees, getting interview and tips from recruiters, and gaining general knowledge that will help them succeed in the business world. Professional events usually consist of a 45 minute presentation by the company representatives followed by a Q & A session, but is not limited to this format. Active members are required to attend three professional events each semester. The appropriate dress for professional events is business casual.

Mentorship Events

SWB values supporting its members beyond their professional goals. Members can attend mentorship events to gain insight into a variety of topics applicable to collegiate women. Examples of past events include group fitness classes, executive board panels, scavenger hunts around the UIUC campus, presentations from SWB advisers, and more! Active members are required to attend one mentorship event each semester.

Social Events

SWB members can take a break from studying and have some fun at our social events. These events are designed to allow members to make friends and relax. Past social events include bowling, cooking classes, trivia nights, ice skating, cookie decorating, and more! A few of these event have been held with company representatives, which gives members yet another way to connect with future employers. Active members are required to attend two social events each semester.

Service Events

SWB members love the Champaign-Urbana community and give back in many ways. SWB regularly partners with Courage Connections and the Crisis Nursery to help improve the community we call home during our college years. We have also volunteered at Books to Prisoners, Salt & Lights, and other C-U organizations.  SWB also hosts service on campus such as blanket making, card making, and parking cars at football games. Active members are required to attend one service event each semester.
