Relay For Life Volunteers Needed

Posted by Jamie Anderson on Thursday, March 29, 2012 Under: Outside Opportunity

My name is Lauren Haugh and I am the Treasurer of Colleges Against Cancer here on campus. Each year we put on the American Cancer Society Relay For Life at the University of Illinois to raise money for cancer research, education, advocacy and services. I am sending you this letter in search of volunteers to help run this amazing event.

I am an Finance student here at U of I, and this year I am trying to reach out to the Business Organizations to try and get volunteers during Relay For Life in the Accounting/Collection room. It will be simple accounting procedures that have to be taken with the collection on money, and I am confident that any Business student would be able to accomplish these tasks. The volunteers will be counting the money and then filling out a documentation that is then passed on to be verified.

Due to the large amount of money that is received on these two nights it is impossible to do it without help. Below are the dates that we are looking for volunteers:

Bank Nights:            April 10th from 1pm–8pm

Night of Relay for Life: April 164h from 6pm-12am

Ideally we are looking for around 1-2 people per time slot from your organization.  We are entirely willing to work with you to have volunteers come in 1 or 2 hour shifts throughout the night, as long as we have adequate and continuous coverage.

We also have an additional opportunity to get involved with Relay For Life by starting a team with your organization.  Relay For Life teams are made of 8-15 individuals that fundraise both independently and together as a team leading up to Relay.  If you are interested in having a Relay For Life team, please check out our website or you can also email and we can help you get signed up.
