The Moms Association has an internship opportunity available for an undergraduate student looking to gain experience in social media, public relations and marketing.

This is a two semester internship beginning immediately through May 2016 (can be extended through the summer of 2016 if possible)

Social media, PR and marketing including:
o       Work with the VP of External Communication to develop year-long
content plan for social media and web content. Based on that plan includes
o       Updating and posting to Moms Association web group (requires knowledge
of WordPress)
o       Relevant, timely Facebook posts
o       Updating event calendars
o       Drafting and distributing press releases to Illinois media as needed
(using Vocus media distribution software – will train.)
o       Drafting and distributing mini e-newsletter twice per semester
o       Assisting Moms Association members by alerting them to opportunities
and news on campus that maybe of interest to membership.
o       Attending Moms Association meetings on campus  as available – these
are held on Sunday mornings four times per year.
o       Act as representative and take photographs for the Moms Association if
asked at on campus events and assist any board member who might be attending events as needed.
o       Knowledge of WordPress and social media platforms is required. Shopify
and Go Daddy experience especially helpful. Graphic design and photography talent is a plus. Superb writing skills and knowledge of AP style is also require.

This is an unusual virtual telecommuting position. The VP of External Communications currently resides in Iowa. This position will require Skyping or teleconferencing as needed but at least once every two weeks. The person in the position will need to a self-starter, self-directed, deadline-driven and responsible to be successful in this position. The Moms Association will be as flexible as possible with work assignments but expect that this position will work ahead so that deadlines are met in the face of academic breaks and class requirements.  The Moms focus is on providing work references and portfolio pieces for the person who fills this position in addition to $250 per semester – anyone hired in the middle of the semester will be prorated accordingly.
